Day Trip to Jozani Forest with Kizimkazi Dolphins View

Tour Overview

Your program starts very early in the morning at around 6:00 am with a visit to Kizimkazi fishing village. You will be picked up from the hotel by our driver. The village of Kizimkazi is famous for its dolphin safaris. However, if you're visiting Kizimkazi please be mindful about joining boat trips that offer the opportunity to swim with dolphins.

Dolphin tour in Zanzibar is a half-day Tour which is done at Kizimkazi fishing village, south coast of the island. The main attraction in this tour is being able to swim close to the dolphins; for those who are lucky they can even get to play with them for a couple of hours. The program normally lasts for around two hours from 7:00 am to 9:30 am.

Then after you are done at Kizimkazi, a driver will take you to the Jozani forest to explore the beautiful mangrove forest. The Jozani Forest is located in the center of the Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park, 38 km southeast of Stone Town. The forest is a great place to encounter many indigenous varieties of flora and fauna, including the Zanzibari Red Colobus Monkey.

Other species that you might catch a glimpse of include Blue Sykes' Monkeys, Bush Pigs, Aders Duiker Antelopes, Elephant Shrews, Chameleons, and numerous birds and butterflies. The best time to see the wildlife of Jozani is early in the morning and it is open daily from 07:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Visitors are advised to keep three meters between themselves and any wildlife and asked not to visit the forest if suffering any cold or flu-like symptoms. The monkeys, though susceptible to human diseases, have practically no resistance to them.

Jozani has an excellent nature trail and the guides are well trained and informative. A walk through this impressive flora and fauna is one of the highlights Zanzibar has to offer. At Jozani, you will also visit the Mangrove swamp and walk around the Mangrove forest.

06:00 AM - Hotel Pickup

Early morning pickup from your Zanzibar hotel and transfer to Kizimkazi fishing village on the south coast.

07:00 AM - Dolphin Safari at Kizimkazi

Embark on a boat tour to spot dolphins in their natural habitat. Swim alongside these magnificent creatures (seasonal and weather permitting). The program lasts around two hours, giving you plenty of time to observe and interact with dolphins.

09:30 AM - Transfer to Jozani Forest

After the dolphin experience, drive to Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park.

10:00 AM - Jozani Forest Exploration

Walk through the beautiful nature trails with an experienced guide. Spot the rare Zanzibar Red Colobus monkeys, Blue Sykes' monkeys, bush pigs, and various bird species. Learn about the unique flora and ecosystem.

11:30 AM - Mangrove Swamp Walk

Visit the impressive mangrove forest and walk along wooden boardwalks through the swamp. Discover the importance of mangroves to the coastal ecosystem and spot crabs, birds, and other wildlife.

01:00 PM - Return to Hotel

Transfer back to your hotel, concluding your wildlife and dolphin adventure.
